The school will be assisting Generals’ staff with this year’s “Generals Idol” contest. “The Generals are thrilled to be working with this group of talented, enthusiastic students. They have the knowledge and the resources here at the Governor’s School to be a great help to our Generals Idol contest this summer,” said Generals’ president, Larry Toombs. The students will gain experience while showcasing their talents. They will be given the opportunity to design marketing campaigns; assist with event planning; and some students may even choose to be contestants in the competition. The Generals are looking forward to the first annual “Generals Idol” contest. The competition will start with an audition round to be held at the Appomattox Regional Governor’s School, with following rounds taking place at Generals’ home games. The Petersburg Generals are constantly looking for ways to stay active in the community, and working with this committee of talented students is just one example of how the Generals give back to the Petersburg area. This summer’s schedule will include many nights dedicated to specific charities, and every Wednesday night will be “Little League Wednesday”.
