Go Orthopedics Named Official Team Doctor

Petersburg, VA – The Petersburg Generals are pleased to announce that Go Orthopedics will serve as the “Official Team Doctor” for the 2008 season.

The Generals bring in college-age athletes from around the country every summer, and it is important that they receive the correct medical attention. “We are really excited about the partnership with Go Orthopedics,” Dr. Larry Toombs, General’s president, said. “We know that the trainers they provide for the team will give our players top notch medical attention and ensure that they are well-prepared for every game.”

The staff of Go Orthopedics, with offices located in Chester, VA, will be covering pre-game preparation, as well as handling any injuries that may happen on the field. Go Orthopedics is an experienced office in the sports medicine field, as they provide certified athletic trainers for other area teams, including Hopewell and Dinwiddie high schools.

Ashley Blackman, ATC,  will be the representative from GO working with the Generals. “I have always had a passion for sports, and I’ve had a growing interest in working with the Generals in recent years. It will definitely be a new challenge and adventure, and I am looking forward to it,” Blackman said. “It makes the experience better that the Generals are a locally operated team, and I know that Dr. Goradia (orthopedic surgeon) loves working with college-level athletes.”

The 2008 season will open on May 28 at the Petersburg Sports Complex, as the Generals take on the Peninsula Pilots. Fans can find out more about the Generals at www.petersburgsports.com.  More information about Go Orthopedics is available at www.goOrtho.net.  If you would like to join Go Orthopedics as a partner of the Petersburg Generals for this summer’s season, call the front office staff at (804) 722-0141.

Generals’ fans are now able to purchase their season tickets for 29 home games this season, with one of those being an exhibition game against Catawba Valley Stars, from the Carolina-Virginia Collegiate League.  The 2008 season is the ninth season in the Coastal Plain League for the Generals.  The CPL is one of the nation’s premier collegiate wood-bat leagues with teams in the Carolinas and Virginia.
