For Immediate Release Contact: Jeremy Toombs Thundering Herd Heading to PetersburgPetersburg, VA – The Petersburg Generals have announced that a Marshall University Thundering Herd, Kevin Shackelford, will be added to the roster. Shackelford, 6-5, 190, is a freshman catcher who resides in Charlotte, NC. In high school was named the Perfect Game Top Prospect. During his senior year had a batting average of .297 with a home run and 11 RBI. Shackelford allowed just one stolen base and committed only one pass ball from behind the dish. In three years at Providence High School, Shackelford helped his team to a 63-18 record. This true freshman could be seeing a lot of time behind the dish this season for the Thundering Herd. Marshall University is in a strong conference and Shackelford could be a big part of their success under head coach Jeff Waggoner. “We are excited to have Shackelford on our roster this year. He is a big player who can be a big target for our pitchers. We have heard that Shackelford is a great defensive catcher who can block balls and has a strong arm,” said Assistant Coach Ryan Leary. “Shackelford is a great addition to our roster who can provide solid defense behind the plate and could be an offensive threat at the plate.” |
