Chowan’s head baseball coach Aaron Carroll, who coached the Generals in 2000 and led the team to its first CPL Championship, is very excited to see what this freshman can do on the mound this year. Chowan has had an early start on the season and currently holds a record of 4-2. Nelson has started off the season with two wins in as many starts. This freshman pitcher will see a good amount innings on the mound for the Hawks as well as the Generals. In his second collegiate start, Nelson set a single-game record by striking out 15 batters in eight innings of work. Nelson has a 1.29 ERA through two starts and 14 innings. “The Generals are very thrilled to have a young left-handed pitcher like Nelson on our pitching staff. I have followed Nelson through the fall and saw him during his record setting performance. He is the type of pitcher that does not appear as a true freshman on the mound,” said Assistant Coach Ryan Leary. “Nelson will be a great addition to the pitching staff this summer.” |
