Three Nittany Lions Join Teammate 

 Petersburg, VA – The Petersburg Generals have announced that three Penn State players will be joining their teammate on the 2008 Generals roster.

Michael Lorentson, a LHP from the 2007 Generals is coming back to Petersburg for 2008, and will be followed by three of his Nittany Lions teammates Ben Heath, Louis Picconi, and Scott Kelley. 

Heath, 6-1, 190, is a freshman catcher from Martinsville, VA.  As a freshman at Penn State, Heath will be fighting for catching duties.  Heath is a very good throw and catch guy who will be helpful behind the plate this season for the Generals.

Picconi, 5-9, 175, is a sophomore infielder from North Merrick, NY. Playing in 13 games as a freshman with six starts, Picconi batted .238 overall, and .400 against conference play in 2007 for the Nittany Lions.  Picconi is a solid fielder, and proved that by not making any errors in 2007.  

Kelley, 6-0, 200, is a junior outfielder/RHP from Arlington Heights, Ill.  While starting in 31 games and playing in 39, Kelley batted .230 for Penn State in 2007.  This Nittany Lion will be adding depth in the outfield for the Generals, and will be seeing some time on the mound in the upcoming season.  

The Petersburg Generals are a member of the Coastal Plain League (CPL), the nation’s hottest summer collegiate baseball league. Celebrating its 12th anniversary season, the CPL is the largest summer league in the country, featuring 14 teams playing in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. Players are housed with local host families for the summer and past experiences have been very positive for both players and hosts.
