Generals Sign Huskies

Petersburg, VA – The Petersburg Generals have announced the addition of two student-athletes from Northeastern University, members of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA).

Mike Lyon, 6-2 215, has been playing primarily shortstop this year for the Huskies but can play third base as well as outfield. Lyon (Plainville, MA), is among the team leaders in most offensive categories including a team high six (6) HR. He is currently hitting .326 and is second on the team in doubles (6), triples (2), RBI (19), and total bases (56).

Frank Pesanello, 6-3 225, is a C/1B with a lot of power from the right side of the plate. Pesanello (Plainville, MA) and the Huskies finished a sweep of James Madison this weekend with Pesanello going 6-11 in the series with 2 HR and 4 RBI. He is hitting .309 on the season and is tied with Lyon for a team high 6 HR.

The Petersburg Generals are a member of the Coastal Plain League (CPL), the nation’s hottest summer collegiate baseball league. Entering its 11th season, the CPL is the largest summer league in the country, featuring 15 teams playing in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. The CPL is certified by Major League Baseball and gives college players the chance to refine their skills with the use of wooden bats. Players are housed with local host families for the summer and past experiences have been very positive for both players and hosts. The Petersburg Generals open their 2007 home schedule Thursday, May 31st against Peninsula.
